To Nekoya, William was a lively and jovial man to spend time with; with Artorius and Tatsugorou mourning his passing.

Background[]

William was once a renowned treasure hunter. He was the patriarch of the Gold Family, who built his family's fortune by acquiring and selling valuable magical items from his adventures. On one of his travels he discover a door to the Western Restaurant Nekoya. There he became acquainted with Daiki Yamagata as well as Altorius and Tatsugorou.

Five years prior to the beginning of the series, William had passed away. A descendant of his, Sarah Gold, his granddaughter, followed his journal of a secret personal 'treasure' he kept hidden from the rest of his family. Using the journal she followed it to the place of his retirement, an abandoned mining city. Sarah discovered that her ancestor had access to a Nekoya Door, that allowed him to enter the Western Restaurant Nekoya, every seven days on the Day of Satur.
