Artorius[1] (アルトリウス, Arutoriusu) is a wizard of the Isekai Shokudō series and one of the Four Heroes. He is a long time customer of the Western Restaurant Nekoya.

Appearance[]

His appearance between the manga and anime differs.

In the manga, he has short gray hair and violet eyes, the hair color seems to be natural as he has gray hair even in his younger flashback. He wears a black robe with straps hanging around the hood rim. The hood also have straps dangling over his shoulder. His hood would always be raised even when eating.

In the anime however, He has light blue eyes, and he initially had long, blonde hair and a clean shaven face. But as he grew older, he turned white and grew a long beard and mustache.

Background[]

Seventy years ago, Artorius was one of the Four Heroes that banded together to defeat the Demon King. At the climax of the war against the demons, Artorius witnessed his friend Yomi sacrifice herself to destroy the Demon God. After the Four Heroes disbanded, Artorius continued his studies in magic leading him to be remembered as one of the people that furthered magic.

Thirty years ago, he discovered the Western Restaurant Nekoya, and much to his surprise, finding Yomi. Artorius kept Yomi's survival a secret from his remaining comrades. Artorius was instrumental in creating the menu for the restaurant. To assist the Master in the dessert menu, he brought his apprentice Victoria to help.

When Kuro arrived, he was shocked at seeing another of the Six Pillars Gods.

When Alexander approached him to guide him to the Other World Restaurant, he agreed, but entered the restaurant late, so as to avoid unnecessary conflict with Lionel and meeting a certain princess.

Abilities[]

During his youth, he was part of a group of four heroes alongside Alexander, Leonard and Yomi. His magical ability was one reason the Demon God was defeated, but at the cost of Yomi.

Trivia[]

  • Artorius' dish in the Dub is specifically translated as "Pork Loin Cutlet" rather than the generic "Pork Cutlet" that would indicate tonkatsu because in Japanese audio the original dish is referred to as Rosu Katsu (ロースカツ) which is a type of tonkatsu made specifically with the fattier pork loin, rather than tenderloin, which is sometimes referred to as "pork roast," where the loanword derives from.
    • The type of tonkatsu made with the leaner pork tenderloin, which is also known as the medallion or fillet of pork, is known as Hire Katsu (ヒレカツ) and is usually more expensive but very tender compared to the fattiness of the pork roast.
    • Lionel's "Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl" or katsudon has tonkatsu in it, but while its cut of pork is unspecified, it's most likely made with the same Rosu Katsu that Artorius' dish uses as it is the cheaper, more common cut and the strip of fat (seen in S2:E12 when Artorius is eating) in the pork loin or "pork roast" is juicier.
